Unsurprisingly Microsoft has announced that businesses should hold off on upgrading to Windows Vista.
“If you’re just starting your testing of Vista, with the [Windows 7] Release Candidate and the quality of that offering, I would switch over and do your testing on the [Windows 7] Release Candidate, and use that going forward,” Bill Veghte, Microsoft’s senior vice president for Windows business, said in a keynote speech earlier this week.
Despite public perception a large amount of companies have either started or already completed the migration away from Windows XP. Up until this announcement from Mr. Veghte of Microsoft has been encouraging businesses to continue their upgrade plans as Windows 7 and Vista are so similar.
The real question with all of this is whether or not businesses are even going to take Windows 7 seriously. My personal belief is that despite all of the praise it has received most will wait until Service Pack 1. Maybe Microsoft should just take the first months of patches, put them together and label them SP1.
