palmceoThe CEO of Palm is talking to Investors today and so far things are looking very good for Palm and the Palm Pre. They are making some very smart moves and are going to attract a very large customer base. The quick highlights:
- Users will be able purchase applications from a Palm App store
- Users will NOT be forced to only purchase applications from the Palm store
- After the Palm Centro there will be no more releases of PalmOS as they are focusing on webOS
- On the issue of PATENTS, Colligan made sure to note that there are no pending legal actions with Apple right now. More pointedly, he noted that Palm has 15 years worth of patents (over 1500 of them in total) and that in patent fights often go like this:
Palm has been around since the beginning of the Smartphone game and it is highly doubtful that they will be beat by a patent issue. The only thing they could do to screw this up at this point would be to have flaws in the device itself. One of the issues most at the forefront is battery life and just how good or bad it will be.
