First of all I have to say I love Lifehacker and their unique articles. However one of their recent polls for the “Hive Five” of anti-malware applications determined that readers thought SpyBot Search & Destroy was the best “malware slayer”. Now honestly I am not sure how they could have come to this conclusion. When was the last time that their “tech savvy” readers actually had to remove malware from a computer? 2006?
I do not want to bash the makers of SpyBot but it is not even close to the best application out there. I would not even put it in a list of my top 10 removal applications. Maybe this is more of a sign of how poorly educated many technicians are or of just how wrong a user poll can be. Hopefully those that actually remove malware for a living are not relying on SpyBot.
When it comes to Anti-Malware programs what is your favorite? Who do you see as the leader in the industry?

One of my co-horts sent me that and it sent shards of nerd rage to my cerebrum. I love Spybot, I use it almost daily, but only to clean up the cookies and ultimately harmless stuff that better software like Malwarebytes and Avira don’t waste their time with.
