movit
Recently I posted about Google’s Android OS for smartphones being installed on a Netbook. Well at CES there was a portable device introduced called Movit that is also running Android. I say “Portable device” because honestly I am not sure what exactly it is. And from looking at the website their marketing team doesn’t know what to call it either because it simply says “Portable Device”.
Engadget says it “might be one of the best things we’ve seen at CES so far” but they don’t go in to enough detail on the device to explain why they say that. Hopefully they can get some further details and maybe even a full review in the future.
One of their tag lines is “You’re on the go and want to stay connected, so Movit!” but honestly I see little to no purpose in this device. Their biggest marketing pitch is that they are running Google’s Android. The device is intended for things like Skype and Facebook but I really can’t imagine anyone buying it for those purposes.
If it had an EVDO connection in addition to it’s WiFi connection I could understand why someone might buy it but right now I am not convinced. Android is a nice touch but otherwise this is just a really small tablet PC. Maybe I am way off on this one.
