Even though the Palm Pre is not out yet hackers have been busy working to see what other operating systems they can get loaded on to them.  The biggest candidate right now as an alternative to webOS (though I am not sure why you would want an alternative) is of course Google Android.  To make things even more interesting though it looks like they are working to make the phone dual boot both Android and webOS.  This option sounds very attractive to me and could really start a new trend in mobile OS’s.

They won’t be able to really dive in and get a working release until the phone is actually released and they get to test their theories but one thing is for sure, they are very motivated and probably without wives or girlfriends.

UPDATE:: Evgeny from the Palm webOS Blog has let me know that he is the one that actually has done the work on this and was the one to post it.  He has an immense amount of details on his site, make sure you check it out and let him know what you think.
